Flu Vaccinations 2018

Updated information on this years flu vaccination programme

Flu vaccinations

This year’s flu vaccination programme is underway. Invites for patient groups that qualify for the jab are being sent by text and letter but if you know you require one please book in for an appointment via reception. We recommend you telephone the surgery on 0113 2953600 after 10am to book.

This year NHS England have recommended different flu vaccines for patients aged Under 65 and patients aged Over 65. You can read more about this on the NHS Website and at Public Health England.

Unfortunately this means that the Over 65 vaccine is available from only one supplier, and deliveries for all GP Practices and Pharmacies are spread over the months of September, October and November. This means that around half of the flu jabs we give to patients aged over 65 this year will be given in November, which is a few weeks later than usual.

All patients over 65 should be reassured, a flu jab is reserved for you and will be given in November. It takes approximately 2 weeks after having the jab to build up the required immunity, therefore all patients will have been vaccinated in plenty of time for the annual flu season.

Flu jabs for patients aged under 65 are unaffected and are being booked in immediately.

The next flu clinic is on:

  • Tuesday 6th November
